Used to open the session.

Used to open Topic A or B.

Used to close a topic

Motion to Open Speaker’s List

Used to open a Speaker’s List so delegates can state their position. Open speaker’s list. Delegates may be added by raising their placards when the chair asks or by sending a note to the chair afterwards. Speaker’s list remains open unless it’s closed by a motion

Motion to Close Speaker’s List

Used to close the Speaker’s List so no more delegations can be added to the list, but it can be reopened.

Yield of Time to another Delegation

Gives the remaining time to another delegate so he/she may speak

Point of Order

Used to point out a procedural error or object to procedure.

Point of Information

Used to ask a delegate a question through the chair.

“Point of Information”.

 

Point of Inquiry

Request information from the chair

Point of Personal Privilege

Used to ask the chair to change something because it is personally affecting you such as noise, room temperature, etc.

Right of Reply

Used to allow a delegation to reply if it has been verbally attacked by another delegation.

Motion to Introduce a Draft Resolution 

Introduce a draft resolution to the committee for debate

Motion to Amend the Draft Resolution 

To vote on changes or additions to specific parts of the resolution.

To vote on roll call and not with placards (standard voting method). Roll call is used for resolution voting.
